It happened to me on Desktop Linux once, and I got a “file already exists error”. Yes, a “file already exists error”… during a directory copy… good luck explaining that to an average user. So, if Apple wants MacOS users to have a good experience with MicroSD cards (and USB drives which are also usually FAT32 or exFAT), they need to be case-insensitive.
